City Towing?

I’ve never liked Complete Towing having the contract for city towing. And it wasn’t because they were making money off peoples misfortune. It was because they have been purposely going over and above to rip people off on their misfortune.

My little story about Complete Towing. I had heard from many different people. So I was prepared when I went down there to help a friend get his car out of Impound. That when they got to complete towing. They didn’t have the “Proper Paperwork” to get their car. Now here is the situation.

They would leave work early get a tow bar or friend with a wrecker, so they could haul their own car out of impound. Complete charges you a lot more to tow it out than they would to tow you car to a repair shop from your house. They want you to pay these outrageous rates. This usually happens after 4:00PM. The officer that was assigned to be there is no longer available.

The process is to take your insurance and registration to the police dept. Pay your fines, and go pick up your car. (now it’s been a few years so I don’t remember if you pay the storage at Complete or not). Now back to my story.

I went down there with a friend of mine because I used to own a tow bar. (my next door neighbors stole it out of my shed so I no longer have one. And yes, when I discovered it was next door and called police, they wouldn’t even come out, but again, that’s ANOTHER STORY)

We started out at the police dept. My friend paid his fine, and had everything he needed. Before we left. I asked the lady, if we had all the “RIGHT” paperwork. She said that we did. I kindly and ever so gently pressed that issue a bit more insistent. “are you sure we have all the “Right Paperwork?” She assured us that we did. I started to request again that we wanted to be completely sure we had all the “Right Paperwork.” She went over one more time want we needed and confirmed we had it. But, when I started to speak again she said, “Why don’t I give you my card and if you have any problems you can call me” Now I was satisfied. My friend looked at me strangely, as it was his car. I told him “don’t worry about it. we’ll see when we get there.”

We get to complete at almost 5:30. There were three people ahead of us. Who had left work early that day to pick up there car two of those had been stolen, one of the cars, Complete offered to take off his hands. They were before us at the police dept. As we stood there watching, as each one of these people were told “We can’t give you your car you don’t have the right “Paperwork.” Needless to say, all of them were hot, and left cussing up a storm. They got to us. I stood by the wall by the door to watch as my friend gave them his paperwork. The lady took his paperwork and went back to her desk in the center of the office and opened another book, seemingly to check something. She then looked up and announced. “You don’t have the right paperwork” You’ll need to go back to the police dept and get them to give it to you, before we can give you your car.” So you'll have to come back tomorrow. That’s when I began my Loud, Fake, boisterous, laughing. Now that I had everybody there stopped and looking at me. Once I had everyone’s attention. I started slapping my hand on the counter and said. “You know, you guys are almost too good ripping people off. You’ve been ripping people off all day. So far since we’ve been here, NO ONE has had the right paperwork to get their cars back. I don’t believe for a minute that the police dept is telling people they have everything they need, then sending them down here to get their cars. Without them having the right paperwork.” The lady then began to make excuses that “this happens all the time.” I then became a inflamed and said “You people, are ripping people off, taking advantage of their misfortune, to make yourselves money. Because, they don’t know your lying to them.” The lady then in total surprise almost didn’t know what to do. (She was busted.) I got her. She then tried to change the subject. “Well who are you? Is it your car? What right do you have to be here?” I then explained. “I’m the guy with the LEGAL TOW BAR, with the car of LEGAL WEIGHT to tow his car out of here!” And we aren’t leaving without his car! My friend turned to me and said “look man I want to get my car let me see if I can talk to them” At this point the lady then said. “Sir, if you don’t calm down I’m going to call the police.” This is exactly what I was waiting for. I said “Really?” and I reached into my wallet and pulled out the lady at the police dept’s card, that she gave me, with her number on it. I said “good!” “Here’s the number!” You call her! I’m going out and smoke a cigarette. As soon as I’m done. I’m going back and finding his car, hooking it up and hauling it away. You call the police! I dare you!” I stepped outside. As soon as I finished my cigarette. My friend came running out the door and pointing. “My car is over there.” I said, there giving it t you right? He said “Yep” I asked so what did they say. He said “I stood there for a minute and they brought over some papers to sign, and told me where the car was.’ I said “I thought so.”

Now this would be an excellent reason for the City of Flint to refuse to give Complete the towing contract for the city. However, reasons like this were never mentioned in council, as to why they didn’t receive the contract, being that they were the lowest bidder, and a business operated in the City of Flint.

Now, this is exactly what the City of Flint wants to do by having the City run Impound. Just wait for the run around your about to get. In order for the city to get more money out of you.
