FLINT - A 15-year-old Flint boy is charged with murder in the shooting
death of a woman outside a Flint convenience store.
Devonte K. Thomas is being held in a juvenile detention center but will
face charges as an adult.
A murder warrant also was issued for a Flint man who is being sought by
police.
Thomas and Antwain D. Williams, 20, face open murder charges, assault and
weapons violations.
Police say Thomas opened fire with a handgun on a parked car at Chevrolet
Avenue and Welch Boulevard just before midnight July 15.
Latesha Taylor, 18, was sitting inside the car with a man when she was
shot in the head.
Taylor died the next day at Hurley Medical Center.
Investigators say Thomas was aiming for Taylor's friend.
The shooting was apparently retaliation for an earlier dispute, said
Genesee County Prosecutor David S. Leyton.
A third man riding with Thomas and Williams is not expected to face
charges.
Police say they believe Williams is still in the state and ask anyone with
information on his whereabouts to call Flint police at (810) 237-6900.
