Well can you image that? Someone is not happy with the way the mayor is running or should I say not running the City!

Let's look at the accusations.

1. Failure to appoint a Police Chief.

        a. What is the reasoning behind needing one? Provides leadership. It also shows a respect for the City Charter. By following it's guidelines and appointing a Chief.

        b. Is one needed? The mayor believes he is going to be the one to take the place of the chief. Thus we don't have one appointed. What happened when he fired the last chief? And immediate increase in in Crime in the City of Flint. 17 percent in 2004 and 12 percent more in 2005. Also a chief would have to be accountable by his oath the defend the Law. Thereby, would have to investigate the illegal activities of the Mayor. Since the mayor believes himself to hold that position. He sure isn't going to investigate himself!

2.  Illegal activities. The impound lot. simply and clearly a violation of the city ordinance. Just go to the City website and review the ordinances yourself. It is pretty clear. Boring reading. But clear! Hypocritical at least.

3. Treatment of Citizens. Hmmm, calling council members thieves? Another Hypocrisy! he authorized the expenditure and even hired one of the councilmen that received the payment.

4. One they didn't even mention. Using his position as Mayor to pad his own pocketbook. At least attempting to. Let's look at the jobs in Flint, er umm I mean Mt. Morris  ahh hmmm No Flint. how about the property along the future Port Huron water pipeline route??

5. Then there is the flat out lies he's made publicly. 30 percent increase in Crime yet he calls that a "Major Reduction" Then there is the laundry list of lies he made concerning Rep Dale Kildee. When the official voting record shows completely the opposite of what The Don said. Or even his all of a sudden turn around on Unions. Dumped Crap (literally) on them then attempts to appear to support them. LOL

Sorry I had to add the last two.

Flint's mayor faces another recall

Petition language was approved Thursday morning

WJRT By Dawn Jones

- (08/03/06)-- Flint Mayor Don Williamson now faces another recall effort. Late this (Thursday) morning, the Genesee County Elections Commission approved recall language.

Since Mayor Williamson took office, he has been the target of two recall attempts.  This latest effort is being spearheaded by an 82-year-old Flint woman.

It took the Genesee County Elections Commission less than 10 minutes to approve the recall language against Williamson.

The language talks about the mayor's failure to appoint an official police chief. It also lists the city's operation of a police impound lot in an area not zoned for that type business.

Evelyn Thompson is the woman who's behind this latest recall effort. She says the mayor's demeanor is what motivated her to seek the re-call.

"The thing I'm really upset about - how he really talk (sic) to people. How he talk (sic) down to 'em. I even watch it on the air," the explained Thompson.

The mayor isn't phased. "The city of Flint is like a church. You know, in a church, there's two, or three, or four factions that want to run the church. In the city of Flint, you got about 2,500 factions that want to run the church, but they're not gonna run the city as long as I'm here. But what they should do, if they wanna be mayor of Flint, they should take and take out a petition and run for it."

Thompson has 180 days from today to collect 7,250 valid signatures to place the recall on the ballot.

All in All this was some of the best reporting I've seen from Channel 12 is quite some time.
